Noam Alon is a contemporary art curator and critic based in Paris. Currently preparing his Museology PhD dissertation and teaching at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University, Paris.
His curatorial research ranges between two main axes: the first is the investigation of the different manners that our psyche, and our apprehension of emotional states, are being structured by social diktats since the beginning of the industrial era, with the rise of psychoanalysis, till the new age trend and the domination of popular positive psychology. Noam is working with different artists that attempt to breach the link between mental stability and efficient work performance, proposing each their singular way to emancipate this scheme ; the second research axis is related to the examination of natural phenomenon resulted by climate crisis, being adopted by different authorities as contemporary myths of doomsday. It seems their use of fear, pessimism and omnipotence serves to create social fragmentation - individual guilt instead of collective action. Noam dialogues with artists questioning the anthropocene while suggesting options to deconstruct dogmatic perspectives and beliefs.
The main axis of Noam’s academic practice is the revelation of invisible infrastructures and power relations within the artworld, aiming to propose methodologies based on horizontality and experimentation instead of hierarchy and fashionism.
